6. COMPETITION CLASS

REQUIREMENTS

SPECIAL NOTE: For the 2012 season, HPV and KPP motors may use any combination of components that are HPV or KPP.

 

6.1 Briggs Sportsman

6.1.1 Age

7 thru 10 years old

(7 year old driver must have 12 prior BKC “events” for experience or BOD approval if at a different track)

6.1.2 Engines/Fuel/Weight

Briggs & Stratton 5HP (restricted) Or Briggs & Stratton Animal (restricted)

Gas only or Methanol Alcohol Only

225 lbs. (kart and driver) Briggs & Stratton 5HP Standard Kart

225 lbs. (kart and driver) Briggs & Stratton Animal Standard Kart

240 lbs. (kart and driver) Either Engine/Cadet Kart

6.1.3 Miscellaneous

Briggs & Stratton 5HP (restricted) engine requires a Horstman .425 (Purple) restrictor.

Briggs & Stratton Animal (restricted) with a (Purple) restrictor plate with 3 holes at 0.225”.

(See Rule 7.2.7.). Briggs & Stratton motor requirements per Box Stock rules (See “Box Stock 4-Cycle Defined” – Rule 7.2.5).

 

6.2 Yamaha Sportsman (YBX)

6.2.1 Age

7 thru 10 years old

Past year champion must move out of class(see 1.7.2.4)

(7 year old driver must have 12 prior BKC “events” for experience or BOD approval if at a different track)

6.2.2 Engines/Fuel/Weight

100cc Yamaha KT100S (restricted)

Gas and Oil

225 lbs. (kart and driver) Standard Kart

100cc Yamaha KT100S (restricted) requires a Walbro WA55B carburetor with WA55B manifold.

Must use RLV-YBX stock box muffler only. YBX box muffler must be original unaltered RLV-YBX 3 Hole Can.

 

6.3 Yamaha Sportsman

6.3.1 Age

8 thru 12 years old

100cc Yamaha KT100S (restricted)

100cc Yamaha KT100S (restricted) requires a Walbro WA55B carburetor with WA55B manifold.

Must use RLV-SSX stock box muffler only. SSX box muffler must be original unaltered RLV-SSX part #7548 (the can with four outlet holes spaced 90 degrees to each other) or part #7543 (the can with the four outlet holes evenly spaced between the 12 and 3 o’clock positions) or part #7540 (4 holes, holes up).

 

6.4 Komet Sportsman

6.4.1 Age

8-12 years old

6.4.2 Engines/Fuel/Weight

KPP 100

250 lbs. (kart and driver)

6.4.3 WKA Bodywork

All bodywork rules according to WKA Manufacturer’s cup specifications. Lower bumper cross member mandatory.

6.4.4 Tire Spec

Bridgestone (YLC) 10x4.5-5 Front and rear (See Rule 7.5.2).

6.4.5 Miscellaneous

KPP 100 engine, Walbro WA55B or 1 carburetor, KPP 1 pipe and header assembly. Tech, engine and clutch rules per current WKA Rule Book. 2009 and 2010 clutch rule allowed.

 

6.5 Yamaha Junior

6.5.1 Age

11 to 15 years old

6.5.2 Engines/Fuel/Weight

100cc Yamaha KT100S

Gas and Oil

305 lbs. (kart and driver)

6.5.3 Tire Spec

Bridgestone (YLC)

6.5.4 Miscellaneous

6.7 Briggs Animal Junior

11 thru 15 years old

6.9 Yamaha Supercan

6.13 Briggs Senior Animal

6.15 Expert

6.15.1 Age

Any individual who is at least 8 years old may enter the Expert class. Drivers 8 – 15 years old may race this class only with the Race Committee’s approval.

Note: The intention here is to provide a place to race for any visitors to our track who’s kart or equipment do not fall into any of BKC’s class structures.

6.15.2 Requirements

Kart must pass safety pre-tech.

Kart/driver combination must satisfy the requirements of a nationally recognized kart sanctioning body.

6.15.2.1 Fuel

Open fuel. No Dioxane. Subject to test for such.


Other Rules That Should You Should Check Out

  • Bridgestone YDS Tires only, Except the Kid Karts, Expert, Senior Super Heavy, Briggs Animal Limited Modified, Yamaha and KPP Classes.

  • Kid Karts: 4.5 YLC or YKC Tire Only.

  • Expert: any tire meeting IKF or WKA tire qualifications.

  • KPP Senior and KPP Junior YKC or YLC Tires only

  • Yamaha Sportsman YBX, Sportsman, Junior, and Supercan: YLC tires only.

  • KPP Sportsman YLC Tires only

  • Senior Super Heavy YKC or YLC Tires only

  • Briggs Animal Limited Modified YKC or YLC Tires only

  • Briggs use a Methanol pump around

  • 2-Cycle uses a spec gas; BP premium gasoline available at the BP gas station on highway 67.

  • 2-Cycle spec oil is 6 to 8oz Burris Blend or Burris Castor per gallon or any combination Burris Blend and Burris Castor, 6 to 8oz per gallon.

  • All KPP, Shifter and TaG Senior classes must follow CIK Bodywork with full rear bumpers

  • All the specs listed in the class requirements on this site, are not all the rules. They are the main ones for our class structure.

  • WKA rules apply, unless specified in our 'Class Requirements' on this site and the Badger Kart Club's 'Competition Rules, Regulations and Procedures' Book.
